Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Allegan County Criminal History. Reading the material, using a search feature, or visiting another page means that you accept every term stated here. Please stop using the website if you do not agree.

NO FCRA USE. Allegan County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a federal, Michigan, Allegan County, or local government body. This website and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The website is a reference to criminal-record resources in Allegan County, Michigan. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private-investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, operated independently of all government offices. It does not hold official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve certified documents, or perform official background checks.

Its function is to identify Allegan County record custodians, including the Sheriff, the criminal courts, the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect readers with third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you will not:

  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or similar collection tools on these pages
  • Threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass anyone with information found here
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any website system or account
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Interfere with website performance or another visitor's access
  • Violate federal, Michigan, or local law while using the website

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool must not be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. Such conduct is prohibited and may be criminal. Michigan law places specific limits on Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data. Under MCL 28.728c, registry misuse against a listed person can carry criminal consequences. The public registry exists for safety awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, background checks, or other consumer reports. Its advertising partners do not offer tools intended to screen applicants, assess rental applications, set insurance rates, or measure creditworthiness. You agree that website or linked-tool data will not be used to:

  • Make a credit or insurance-eligibility decision
  • Evaluate a job applicant or employment status
  • Screen a tenant, renter, or housing applicant
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

Anyone who needs a legally permissible screening product must use the proper official process through the Michigan State Police or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General descriptions of Allegan County criminal records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, set-aside rule, or other law applies to one person's facts. Obtain advice from a Michigan-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No promise is made that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or correctly matched
  • Every page is free from errors, defects, or security weaknesses
  • The website will remain available without delay or interruption
  • Any fact is complete, accurate, or current at a particular moment

Criminal records change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, or set aside. Delays and gaps are possible. Nothing published here is an official statement from the Sheriff, a court, Michigan State Police, or another public body. The Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 through 15.246, also permits exemptions and redactions, so access to a government record is not guaranteed merely because it is requested.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, registry, or outside-search websites. Those services are controlled by their own operators. Allegan County Criminal History is not responsible for their prices, data practices, availability, terms, or content. Review the destination's conditions before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Allegan County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, adapted, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, Allegan County Criminal History is not liable for harm or damages arising from use of the website, its information, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the website harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use or breach of these terms, including reasonable legal fees and related expenses.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any dispute related to use of the website must be brought in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated language is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, limited, or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be changed only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
